Jakarta - November 2018, the Indonesia Tourism Travel Award (ITTA) 2018/19. The annual event is a form of appreciation for the tourism industry players and all related sectors. Once again, Jakarta Aquarium was honoured as a recipient. This is fantastic achievement as the criteria set to be nominated is of a high standard. ITTA Foundation and the organising committee conduct several stages of assessment, starting with online voting since November 2018 followed by an assessment from BINUS School and a jury from the ITTA Foundation Board of Advisors.
The online voting involves votes from 17 different countries also with judging team's assessment. Jakarta Aquarium has graciously been awarded, the category winner of Indonesia Leading Conservation Destination 2018/19, for the second consecutive year. Jakarta Aquarium is part of the Taman Safari Indonesia group, leading in breeding and conservation programmes. We opened our doors to the public in April 2017 and we were officially inaugurated by Mrs. Susi Pudjiastuti, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia, on 16th October 2018.
Jakarta Aquarium is a new tourist destination in Jakarta that provides a different experience for visitors. This educational and recreational journey is not only interesting in information, but also conceptually. Jakarta Aquarium always strive to provide new topics and engaging activities, including experiences in discovering the beauty and vastness of Indonesian waters and land biodiversity. This is delivered in the concept of 'Urban Escapism' which combines natural wealth, Indonesian culture, and technology. You can interact directly with aquatic and terrestrial animals, such as beavers and Humboldt penguins, which are descendants from our successful breeding programmes with Taman Safari.
There are many attractions that we offer, including education content delivered in advanced technology at our 5D Theatre. By using a simulator, we transport our guests on a journey of wondrous beauty through the underwater world of Indonesia. All facilities and entertainment in Jakarta Aquarium are designed and operated using advanced technology, such as touchscreen, making it easier for visitors to participate, learn and enjoy.
Not only are guests able to freely walk through our modern, yet realistic aquarium, we at Jakarta Aquarium also offer our guests the chance to dive in our main aquarium tank, along with the large variety of fishes, with our Aqua Trekking programme.
You don't need to be able to swim and you don't need to jet off to far destinations to be able to feel the exhilaration of underwater diving whilst observing our varied range of species, such as sharks, stingrays, groupers and many other unique species ranging in an array of sizes and colours. Aqua Trekking is a new activity we offer and only by trying, will you truly immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of underwater adventure, here in the city of Jakarta.
The award given by the Indonesia Tourism Travel Award 2018/19 to the Jakarta Aquarium, is graciously accepted, and we will continue to focus our efforts on conserving and protecting our planet, through many educational programmes and activities, in collaboration with the local communities and schools. If each and every one of us, could make just 1 step change in our daily life towards preserving our planet, we will be building a better future for our children and their children. So what are you waiting for? Its time to make a change, its time to visit Jakarta Aquarium, and join us in the journey, not only of discovery, but a journey of awareness and inspiring educational activities.
